Junior Farm Manager

Manages activities and processes related to Pride Farm’s open field activities (e.g. Irrigation), commercial nursery, organic inputs and nutrition activities (e.g. composting)
Oversee input inventory and logistics by leading nursery operations with clear goals and deliverables that support Pride Farm’s expansion efforts
Work according to farm production SOPs and documentation strategies that align farms with certification standards (e.g. Organic, GGAP, Fairtrade)
Establish clear communication channels and expectations with farm management teams (reporting, planning, capacity building, etc.) to ensure key milestones and deliverables are achieved on time


Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and coordinating daily functions and activities of the farm which includes but not limited to: plantings, weeding, fertilizer application, spraying, irrigation and harvesting.
  • Ensuring that all the agronomical practices are performed on the basis of PF processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Reporting without fail on the daily progress of the farm activities which includes but not limited to daily achievements, challenges, failures and any valuable information that needs to be communicated must be reported.
  • Implement and record on provided tracking tools the planting calendar provided without fail and report immediately to the management if there is anything that can prevent the implementation.
  • Ensuring all communications either written or spoken are done with proficiency.
  • Assign work and duties to farm workers and supervise their work and ensure they are efficient and effective.
  • Willing and ready to be sent on duty to other sister farms at any geographical location and also be ready and willing to go to new locations to help and establish new farms as directed by the management.
  • Ensuring that farm properties (machinery, equipment, inputs, and tools) are taken care of and without any misuse or loss.
  • The above responsibilities are a guide and are not restricted nor limited to the above only therefore the management reserves the right to alter or assign you any other responsibility they feel you are capable of undertaking


Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English with the ability to convey complex concepts in a simple manner
  • Manage and work with a team of varying cultural backgrounds, beliefs and methods
  • Proficiency in MS Office, and analytics tools such as eProd
  • Bachelor’s degree in production agriculture or similar
  • 2+ year experience in commercial horticulture production with agricultural experience in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Willingness to travel to remote farms
  • Driver’s license
